Buenos Aires to launch first horticultural census in 20 years
The Province of Buenos Aires will conduct the 2026 Horticultural Census, the first of its kind in 20 years. Driven by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and the Ministry of Economy, the operation aims to survey production units dedicated to horticulture and floriculture across the province to update technical and socioeconomic data.
The field work is scheduled to begin on September 1 and run for 60 days, potentially extending for an additional month. The census will utilize 147 census takers and 26 supervisors to cover more than 100 municipalities. This sector is vital to the regional economy, with exports reaching US$260 million, primarily involving products such as potatoes, garlic, and onions.
