Buenos Aires public ports reach highest activity levels since 2019

Public ports in the Province of Buenos Aires recorded their highest level of activity since 2019 during the first quarter of 2026. According to the provincial Port Monitor, 14.8 million tons of bulk cargo were moved, representing a 21.3% year-on-year increase. The container sector also saw growth, with 130,000 units moved, up 8.1% compared to the same period in 2025.

This surge in activity was primarily driven by significant increases in exports: grain exports rose by 29.7%, crude oil exports jumped by 87.4%, and value-added products in containers increased by 17.7%. Key operational hubs included Bahía Blanca and Coronel Rosales for bulk cargo, while Dock Sud handled 96% of container traffic.

Logistical movement also increased, with 2,066 vessels operated (a 10.4% rise), 350,000 trucks moved (up 10.1%), and 16,000 train wagons utilized during the period.
