Bueu disputes Xunta de Galicia demand to return 700,000 euros

The municipality of Bueu is contesting a demand from the Xunta de Galicia to return 700,000 euros in subsidies intended for the energy renovation and rehabilitation of the Beluso pavilion. The Xunta initiated the reimbursement procedure due to a failure to meet justification deadlines.

Mayor Félix Juncal has filed formal allegations to prevent the loss of the funds, arguing that the local government warned the regional administration of potential delays on three separate occasions in late 2025. The municipality claims these communications went unanswered. Furthermore, the local government noted that a Xunta official attended the pavilion's reinauguration in August, despite the subsequent notification to reclaim the funds in September.

The delays in the project are attributed to circumstances beyond the municipality's control, including vacancies in the roles of municipal architect and coordinator, as well as necessary project modifications discovered during construction.
