Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator demands unit improvements
Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard has called for immediate improvements from a defensive unit that is struggling to prevent points and yards. Following a 37-34 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Rams, Leonhard noted that the defense cannot continue to rely on quarterback Josh Allen to compensate for their inconsistencies.
Leonhard stated that the unit is being evaluated and suggested that roster changes could be a possibility if performance does not improve. The defense has faced significant challenges, including allowing 33 first downs against the Rams—matching a franchise high dating back to 1991—and struggling with coverage and communication in the secondary. The Bills currently hold a 4-1 record and are scheduled to play the Las Vegas Raiders this coming Sunday.
