Buffalo Bills exclude O. J. Simpson from new stadium honors

The Buffalo Bills have decided to exclude Hall of Famer O. J. Simpson from the “Family Circle” plaza at their new Highmark Stadium. While Simpson was a member of the franchise’s Wall of Fame for over four decades, team executives stated the omission is an organizational decision based on the new stadium’s branding.

Bills President of Business Operations Pete Guelli addressed the move, stating, “We have made an organizational decision that he is not a fit to display inside our new stadium and Family Circle.”

The decision has sparked backlash from some fans and community activists. Former Erie County legislator Betty Jean Grant is leading a movement to restore Simpson’s legacy, citing his athletic achievements, including being the NFL’s first 2,000-yard rusher. Grant has gathered thousands of signatures via petition, arguing that his on-field accomplishments should be recognized separately from his legal history.
