Buffalo Bills lose to New England Patriots after late touchdown

The New England Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills 29-26 at Highmark Stadium, marking the first loss of the season for Buffalo. The victory was secured by a 23-yard game-winning touchdown catch by Efton Chism III, who caught a pass from rookie quarterback Drake Maye late in the fourth quarter.

Following the game, Bills safety C. J. Gardner-Johnson criticized the outcome, suggesting the Bills were the better team despite the loss. He referred to Chism as an “elevated guy” and suggested the play might not be repeated, stating, “Probably won’t hear from him again, respectfully.” However, records indicate Chism was on the Patriots' active 53-man roster rather than a practice squad elevation. Gardner-Johnson maintained that the Patriots struggled throughout the game and that Buffalo must simply play better to secure future wins.
