Buffalo Bills name Joe Brady as head coach

The Buffalo Bills officially dismissed Sean McDermott after nine seasons and promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to head coach. Owner Terry Pegula said the team had hit a “playoff wall,” prompting the change. General manager Brandon Beane noted the club was not set on hiring an offensive‑minded coach, but Brady’s familiarity and offensive background made him the leading candidate.

Quarterback Josh Allen participated in the coaching‑search interviews and said the transition felt natural, describing Brady as “very authentic” and noting his new involvement with the defense. Allen added, “It feels quite similar; it’s very genuine.” Brady, who joined the Bills in 2022 as a quarterbacks coach, became interim offensive coordinator in 2023, then full‑time OC before his promotion. He expressed a personal goal of helping Allen improve: “Josh Allen is the best player in the NFL, and I have to grow… I’m excited to continue this journey with him.”
