Bugatti introduces new wheels to lower Veyron tire costs

Bugatti has introduced a new solution to significantly reduce maintenance costs for Veyron owners by addressing the high price of specialized tires. For two decades, the Veyron has required the Michelin PAX system, a unique construction designed to maintain control at speeds exceeding 400 km/h. However, this system necessitated custom-made rubber that could cost up to 40,000 euros for a complete set.

Through its La Maison Pur Sang division, Bugatti is now offering new wheels—20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear—that allow the use of modern, standard tire sizes. This change enables owners to switch to more common Michelin tires, which can cost approximately 3,000 euros per set, a fraction of the previous cost. While the price for the new wheel sets has not been disclosed, the upgrade provides a long-term saving compared to the previous requirement of periodically replacing both specialized tires and rims.
