Bugatti Tourbillon to debut 1,800 hp V16 hybrid hypercar in 2026

Bugatti is transitioning from its long-standing W16 engine era to a new era with the Tourbillon, a hypercar scheduled for 2026. The vehicle features a newly developed 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine, created in collaboration with Cosworth, paired with three electric motors to produce a total output of approximately 1,800 horsepower.

A major focus of the development has been the acoustic engineering of the V16 engine. Bugatti engineers have prioritized a “raw” and mechanical sound, explicitly rejecting the use of artificial engine noises through speakers. The team conducted thousands of intake and exhaust simulations to balance the engine’s aggressive character with strict international noise regulations, specifically aiming to meet the 72-decibel homologation standard.

The Tourbillon is limited to a production run of 250 units, with prices starting at approximately 3.8 million euros. It succeeds the Chiron and represents a significant technological shift toward hybrid performance while maintaining the brand’s high-revving, mechanical identity.
