Bugatti unveils Destrier one‑off hypercar from Bolide platform
Bugatti presented the Destrier, the third unique vehicle from its Programme Solitaire. Built on the carbon‑fibre monocoque of the track‑focused Bolide, the one‑off hypercar discards the Bolide’s wings, vents and other aerodynamic add‑ons, resulting in a pure sculptural form. At just about one metre tall, the Destrier is the lowest Bugatti ever made and rides on 20‑inch front and 21‑inch rear wheels, larger than the Bolide’s 18‑inch units. It retains the Bolide’s quad‑turbo 8.0‑litre W16 engine delivering roughly 1 600 hp, but its exterior is finished in a bespoke “Sapphire Celeste” paint with diamond‑like sparkle. Design cues reference Bugatti’s historic Type 57 lineage, with a re‑interpreted C‑line and a wider horseshoe grille. Bugatti described the concept as asking, “What if the most extraordinary Bugatti engineering package ever created was untouched by wings, vents, and aerodynamic addenda?” Design director Frank Heyl added, “Destrier is not a car you understand with your head, it is a car you feel with your heart.” The car will be shown publicly at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance during Monterey Car Week on 16 August.
