Bugatti Veyron Wimille sets world auction record in Zurich
A Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse ‘Jean-Pierre Wimille’ has set a new world record for the most expensive Veyron sold at a public auction. The vehicle sold for 4,505,000 Swiss francs at an RM Sotheby’s auction held in Zurich on September 26.
The sale significantly exceeded the initial estimate of 2.4 to 2.8 million Swiss francs. This specific edition is one of only three produced, honoring the driver who secured Bugatti’s first Le Mans victory in 1937.
The Zurich auction, held at the Park Hyatt, generated a total of 16,302,075 Swiss francs. The second most expensive lot of the event was a 1991 Ferrari F40, which sold for 3,323,750 Swiss francs.
