Buglasan Festival celebrates culture in Dumaguete City

The Buglasan Festival of Festivals is currently underway in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. The 11-day event, themed “Different Stories. One Aspiration. One Negros Oriental,” showcases the diverse traditions, music, and cultural identities of various communities across the province through elaborate street dancing and traditional costumes.

Recent highlights include the Field Presentation and Showdown Competition, where Bais City defended its title with the Hudyaka Festival of Harvests, followed by Dumaguete City in second place and Tanjay City in third. The festival schedule includes a marching band competition, a Parade of Lights Float Competition, and a pyromusical event.

Local authorities, including the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, have issued safety reminders for crowds, while PAGASA has forecasted potential rainshowers or thunderstorms in the region due to the northeast monsoon.
