Bugojno war crimes trial: Expert disputes legality of prisoner liquidation note

During the trial regarding war crimes in Bugojno, defense expert Enver Mujezinović testified that a note in the diary of defendant Dževad Mlaćo regarding the 'liquidation of extreme prisoners' does not constitute an official conclusion, stance, or order of the War Presidency.

Mujezinović stated that after analyzing Mlaćo's diary and the notes of the War Presidency secretary, he could not determine whose words were recorded in the disputed marginal note. He clarified that the note cannot be considered a proposal or a command, noting that no military representatives with authority over prisoners were present at the July 1993 session where the note was written.

Dževad Mlaćo, former president of the Bugojno War Presidency, is accused of ordering the killings of prisoners of Croatian nationality. Co-defendant Selmo Cikotić, former commander of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina's West Operational Group, is charged with failing to prevent or punish subordinates for the torture and killing of prisoners.
