Buhleni officially declared a town in Eswatini

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has officially declared Buhleni a town under Section 111 of the Urban Government Act of 1969. This designation places the area under the jurisdiction of the Buhleni Town Council.

As a result of this status, businesses, property developers, and residents must now comply with municipal regulations regarding construction, trade, and commercial activities. Anyone intending to undertake building works must apply to the Buhleni Town Council before construction begins, ensuring all projects adhere to the Building Act, the Town Planning Act, and public health legislation.

The declaration follows growing investment in the eastern Hhohho Region, particularly in tourism, commercial facilities, and public services. The ministry has urged all developers and government agencies to consult the council to ensure compliance with the new municipal framework.
