Buitenplaats Beeckestijn to undergo major restoration

Extensive restoration and maintenance work will begin this autumn at Buitenplaats Beeckestijn in Velsen-Zuid. The project involves both the monumental buildings and the historical park and gardens.

Hendrick de Keyser Monumenten, which owns the main house, coach houses, and chapel house, will focus on repairing leaking roofs, improving insulation in floors and roofs, renewing technical installations, and repairing exterior plaster and paintwork. Project leader Rob Dirkson stated the goal is to make the heritage site more energy-efficient and future-proof so it can continue to serve as a residence, workplace, wedding venue, and museum.

Simultaneously, Natuurmonumenten will manage maintenance of the park forest and ornamental gardens. This includes dredging and renovating the mirror pond, addressing the Alenbeek stream, and restoring the structure of the unpaved paths.

While work is expected to continue in some capacities until 2027, the site will remain open to the public. Visitors should expect scaffolding around buildings and temporary restricted access to certain garden areas, though the brasserie and parking facilities will remain accessible.
