Bukayo Saka faces lengthy injury layoff following Bayern Munich match
Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is facing a significant period on the sidelines after sustaining a quadriceps injury during a 2-2 Champions League draw against Bayern Munich. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that the player experienced sharp pain and struggled to walk off the pitch, noting that a significant amount of fluid in the affected area has complicated initial assessments.
Saka was scheduled for an MRI scan to determine the exact severity of the damage. While no official diagnosis has been released, medical estimates and reports suggest he could be sidelined for anywhere between six and eight weeks. If these timelines hold, Saka may miss critical fixtures against teams including Manchester City, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid, as well as upcoming UEFA Nations League matches for England.
To cover his absence, Arteta is expected to utilize options such as Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze. There is also significant discussion regarding the potential integration of 16-year-old talent Max Dowman, whom Arteta believes is capable of reaching “another dimension” once given more consistent first-team minutes.
