Bukhungu Stadium upgrade transforms sports and economy in Kakamega

The ongoing upgrade of Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega is transforming the facility into a modern venue for athletes and football players. The improvements address long-standing issues such as poor drainage, muddy running tracks, and inadequate seating, providing a better environment for training and competition.

Local coaches and athletes report that the enhanced infrastructure is helping to nurture talent and restore pride in Western Kenya's sporting capabilities. The project is expected to facilitate talent identification by providing enclosed grounds for scouts and spectators.

Beyond sports development, the stadium upgrade is anticipated to stimulate the local economy. Residents and officials expect the facility to attract major sporting events and visitors from across Kenya and beyond, creating new business and employment opportunities for the Kakamega region.
