Bukov explosion leads to discovery of weapons and ammunition
Following an explosion and subsequent fires at a residence in Bukov, located in the Žďár Region, police discovered a large quantity of weapons and various types of ammunition. The incident began on Wednesday afternoon when a propane-butane cylinder reportedly exploded, causing a fire that left the property owner seriously injured. The victim was airlifted to a hospital in Brno.
A second fire broke out at the site the following morning, affecting a barn roof. This secondary incident prompted a more thorough search of the premises by emergency services and investigators. During the inspection, police found multiple firearms and a significant amount of ammunition, necessitating the involvement of a police technician to secure the materials.
Authorities are currently investigating the case as a criminal offense of causing grievous bodily harm. Additionally, criminal proceedings have been initiated regarding suspected illegal weapons possession and public endangerment. Police are questioning a 52-year-old man to determine the ownership of the items and whether the necessary firearms licenses were held. While some weapons may have been legal, the status of the remaining arsenal is under investigation.
