Bulandshahr police encounter kills rape-murder suspect
A police encounter in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh resulted in the death of a suspect identified as Monu. Monu was wanted for the rape and murder of a minor girl and carried a reward of Rs 50,000 for his arrest.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Singh, the incident occurred during a vehicle checking operation near Chhaprawat. Two suspects on a motorcycle allegedly opened fire on the police team when signaled to stop. In the ensuing exchange of fire, Monu was critically injured and later died while undergoing treatment at a district hospital. His accomplice managed to escape the scene under the cover of darkness.
During the encounter, a Sub-Inspector and a Constable sustained injuries, while two other officers were struck by bullets that were deflected by their bulletproof jackets. Police recovered a .32-bore pistol, ammunition, and a motorcycle from the location. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
