Bulgaria aims to use Eurovision to promote Black Sea tourism

Bulgarian Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov stated that the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest presents an opportunity to showcase the Black Sea region as a global destination. The government intends to support the event by coordinating with airport operators to increase flight capacity to Burgas.

To maximize the impact, the Ministry of Tourism is planning a program to introduce over 1,000 expected journalists to various destinations, including Varna, Burgas, and Sofia. Dimitrov emphasized that improving air connectivity is essential for facilitating tourist arrivals.

Regarding the current tourism season, Dimitrov described it as complex and uneven, though he noted there is no total collapse. He attributed some of the challenges to the loss of over 220,000 airline seats from the German market following a conflict between two major market players. A full analysis of the season is pending as it remains in its active phase.
