Bulgaria presidential elections: CEC sets campaign rules and registration deadlines

Preparations for the Bulgarian presidential elections scheduled for October 25, 2026, are underway. The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced the official slogan, ‘Your voice, your choice,’ and established the rules for the upcoming campaign. The official election campaign period is set to run from midnight on September 25 until midnight on October 23.

As of early September, eight political parties and six initiative committees have submitted registration documents to the CEC. Parties must complete registration by September 9, while initiative committees have until September 14. The final deadline for registering candidate pairs for president and vice president is September 22.

In terms of logistics, the CEC has approved 100 Bulgarian diplomatic and consular missions abroad to host voting sections, though sections will not be opened in countries with high security risks or active military conflicts, such as Ukraine and Syria. The CEC is also preparing an information campaign via social media and a dedicated mobile application to guide voters on their rights and the voting process.
