Bulgaria bids to host Volleyball Nations League events

The Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BFV) Executive Board has approved a bid for Sofia to host a round of the men's Volleyball Nations League in May 2028. The matches are proposed to take place between May 20 and 24 at Arena 8888.

This candidacy is strategically linked to the Bulgarian men's national team's efforts to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games, as the Nations League is a critical component for international rankings and Olympic qualification.

Additionally, Burgas has been designated to host a round of the tournament in June 2027. To accommodate the event, plans are underway to increase the capacity of Arena Burgas from 6,300 to 7,300 seats. The federation also confirmed its ongoing policy to support local clubs by covering referee fees.
