Bulgaria Chooses Between Sofia and Burgas to Host Eurovision 2027
After Bulgaria’s first Eurovision Song Contest win in Vienna, the 71st edition of the event is set for 2027 in the southeastern EU nation. Two cities – the capital Sofia and the Black‑Sea resort Burgas – have been shortlisted to host the contest. The selection committee, led by the Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and in partnership with the European Broadcasting Union, must announce its decision by the end of July.
Sofia, with a population of about 1.3 million, boasts a historic centre, modern infrastructure and the 12‑15 000‑seat Arena 8888. Burgas, a popular seaside tourism hub, is promoted as a vibrant party destination. Both cities are campaigning to demonstrate their capacity to stage the large‑scale live music event.
