Bulgaria clinches first Eurovision win and will host 2027 contest

Bulgaria's representative Dara captured the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 title with the song “Bangaranga,” marking the country's first victory in the competition's 70‑year history. The win was celebrated nationwide and led national broadcaster BNT to confirm Sofia as the host city for Eurovision 2027, promising a boost to tourism, employment and infrastructure investment.

Veteran Bulgarian singer Veselin Marinov praised the achievement, noting that hosting the event will bring political, commercial and tourist benefits. He also expressed a wish for future Bulgarian‑language entries, citing the current reliance on foreign songwriters. The combined cultural triumph and upcoming host duties are expected to raise Bulgaria’s profile across Europe.
