Bulgaria commemorates Zahari Stoyanov and historical uprisings

Commemorations are being held across Bulgaria to honor the legacy of the historian and revolutionary Zahari Stoyanov and significant milestones in Bulgarian history.

In the village of Medven, the Eighth National Readings took place, focusing on Stoyanov’s life and the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising. The event brought together historians, researchers, and educators to discuss his historical impact. Local officials and representatives from the Ministry of Culture attended the proceedings.

In Plovdiv, ceremonies marked the 141st anniversary of the Unification of Bulgaria. The Director of the Plovdiv Historical Museum emphasized Stoyanov’s deep connection to the city, where he played a key role in the preparations for the Unification. The commemorations included wreath-laying ceremonies at the Zahari Stoyanov monument and events honoring other historical figures, such as Major Raycho Nikolov.
