Bulgaria convenes Security Council after unidentified drone breaches airspace

An unidentified drone breached Bulgarian airspace at 8:10 a.m., prompting an emergency response from the national government. Air defense and surveillance systems located the object immediately following the intrusion.

In response to the potential threat, Prime Minister Rumen Radev convened an emergency meeting of the Security Council at the Council of Ministers. The meeting was held behind closed doors and included leadership from the defense and intelligence sectors, including the ministers of internal affairs, foreign affairs, defense, and finance, as well as the heads of the defense forces and special services such as DANS, DAR, and DATO.
