Bulgaria driving course prices may reach 1,500 euros

Driving course prices in Bulgaria are expected to rise, potentially reaching 1,500 euros. Yonko Ivanov, chairman of the Union of Auto-Moto Training Instructors, stated that current costs range between 1,200 and 1,350 euros, noting that external factors such as the war in the Middle East are contributing to the upward trend.

Ivanov criticized national policy and the effectiveness of current road safety measures, arguing that sanctions alone cannot prevent accidents. He highlighted a 40% decrease in the number of people taking exams, which has led to a shortage of examiners and logistical difficulties for students. He also expressed concerns regarding the technical reliability of equipment used during exams and the low wages for instructors.

Furthermore, the Union reported that a proposed action plan presented to Transport Minister Georgi Peev was not given sufficient attention. Ivanov also voiced apprehension regarding upcoming European proposals to allow 17-year-olds to undergo training, questioning the safety of such young drivers operating heavy vehicles.
