Bulgaria expands medical specialization positions to address shortages
The Bulgarian Ministry of Health has announced 15 additional training positions for medical specialists in fields facing shortages. This expansion brings the total number of available opportunities to 255 under the project ‘Encouraging Specialization in Specialties and Fields with a Shortage of Specialists’.
The new positions include one neonatology spot in Montana, two in pediatric psychiatry, and 12 in infectious diseases distributed across various regions, including Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, and Ruse. Candidates can apply until February 28, 2027.
Approved specialists will receive a monthly financial incentive equivalent to 2.5 minimum wages in addition to their regular income. To date, the project has facilitated 353 contracts for doctors, dentists, nurses, and midwives across 54 specialties in 62 medical facilities.
