Bulgaria expects over 90% success rate for Recovery and Resilience Plan

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov announced that the country's final result regarding the National Recovery and Resilience Plan is expected to exceed 90%. This marks a significant increase from initial projections of approximately 50%.

Pekanov stated that the current administration took office facing the risk of losing 500 million euros due to the previous cabinet's actions, specifically citing decisions regarding the anti-corruption commission that threatened 367 million euros, plus an additional 140 million euros that might have needed to be returned.

Key reforms mentioned include adjustments to the civil service sector and reforms in the water and sanitation sector, the latter of which was coordinated with the European Commission to ensure funding security. Pekanov also asserted that the executive branch has gained independence from previous political influences, specifically mentioning a break in the control previously held by figures such as Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski.
