Bulgaria faces new parent‑targeted phishing scam via iMessage and SMS

A new phishing campaign is circulating in Bulgaria through iMessage and SMS messages that pose as a child asking for urgent help. The texts read, “Здравей, мамо. Случайно изпуснах телефона си в тоалетната …”, and provide a Bulgarian mobile number for the parent to call. The messages originate from foreign numbers, including the +212 code belonging to Morocco, and appear to be sent at the same time, indicating an automated mass operation.

Cyber‑security experts say the scheme relies on social engineering, exploiting parental concern to extract money, personal data or account access codes. Victims are urged not to reply, not to send funds, and to verify the request using a known contact number, marking the message as spam and deleting it.
