Bulgaria GDP grows 2.8% in second quarter of 2026

Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 2.8% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute. On a quarterly basis, the seasonally adjusted GDP increased by 0.7% compared to the first quarter of 2026. The total GDP for the period amounted to 30,292.5 million euros.

The service sector remains the largest contributor to the economy, accounting for 72.4% of the value added. The industrial sector represents 25.2%, while the agricultural sector's share decreased to 2.4%.

On a broader scale, Eurostat reported that the Eurozone GDP grew by 1.2% and the European Union's GDP grew by 1.4% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the previous year. In the United States, GDP increased by 0.4% compared to the previous quarter.
