Bulgaria gifts damask roses to Jakarta for 70th diplomatic anniversary

Bulgaria has gifted 20 damask roses (Rosa damascena) to the government of Jakarta to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Indonesia.

Initiated by Tanya Dimitrova, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Indonesia, the gift serves as a symbol of friendship and cultural heritage. The roses will be planted in Jakarta, providing a lasting physical connection between the two nations. The choice of the damask rose highlights Bulgaria's long-standing tradition of rose oil production, often referred to as the country's ‘liquid gold’.
