Bulgaria Minister announces road and tunnel infrastructure repairs

Bulgarian Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Arch. Ivan Shishkov, has announced several key infrastructure projects aimed at improving road safety and regional connectivity.

Regarding the Topli Dol tunnel on the Hemus motorway, Shishkov stated that repairs are essential due to the critical condition of the structure, which poses a danger to travelers. The work is expected to last approximately six months, with provisions for temporary openings during the Christmas and New Year holidays to ease traffic. He noted that the bypass through Vitinya cannot be used due to the risk of a retaining wall collapse.

Additionally, Shishkov addressed the modernization of the Vidin–Botevgrad road. He indicated that construction on the 'zero lot' is set to begin, with completion expected by the end of next year. He emphasized that these improvements, including the planned construction of lot 1, are intended to stimulate local business and economic growth in the region by providing better access to international routes.

During an inspection of the III-121 Inovo–Boynitsa–Kula road, the Minister highlighted that current repairs are being conducted with proper planning to ensure long-term quality, contrasting this with the lack of projects in previous years.
