Bulgaria issues €100 million of new government bonds

The Bulgarian Ministry of Finance placed a €100 million domestic‑market auction of 5‑year government bonds with a fixed coupon of 2.75 %. The Bulgarian National Bank reported that total orders reached €183.95 million, including €11.2 million of non‑competitive bids, giving a coverage ratio of 1.84 and a yield of 3.43 %. This auction was the fourth reopening of the same 5‑year issuance in 2026 and the tenth domestic auction of the year.

So far in 2026 the government has raised €1.51 billion of new debt on the domestic market, bringing total debt taken in the year to €4.01 billion. Under the 2026 state‑budget law the ceiling for new debt is €10.1 billion, and the overall public debt is projected to reach €37.7 billion by year‑end, equivalent to about 30 % of GDP. Earlier, on 7 July, Bulgaria successfully issued €2.5 billion of bonds in three tranches on international markets, part of which includes a €3.261 billion SAFE instrument loan for defence industry strengthening.
