Bulgaria maintains among the lowest fuel prices in Europe
Bulgaria maintains some of the lowest fuel prices in the European Union, largely due to national tax policies and excise duties that remain near the minimum levels set by Brussels. Currently, A-95 gasoline prices in Bulgaria range between 1.60 and 1.63 euros per liter, while diesel is notably higher, averaging between 1.86 and 1.90 euros per liter.
Despite these relatively low costs, the Bulgarian market remains susceptible to international volatility, including fluctuations in crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions, and changes in global supply chains. These factors contribute to seasonal price movements and pressure from wholesale costs.
Significant price disparities exist within the region. For instance, drivers crossing into Greece face much higher costs, with A-95 gasoline typically priced between 1.95 and 2.05 euros per liter. In contrast, Western and Central European nations like Germany, France, and the Netherlands face different economic layers of cost due to environmental taxes and other regional mechanisms.
