Bulgaria marks Military Parachutist Day and 82nd combat anniversary

Bulgaria marked Military Parachutist Day and the 82nd anniversary of the Parachute Company’s first combat engagement with ceremonial rituals in Sofia. The commemorations included a military ceremony at the memorial plaque for fallen parachutists at Narodno Sabranie Square.

President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Iliyana Yotova accepted the honor guard and paid tribute to the achievements of Bulgarian parachutists. The event was attended by Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov, Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Efthimov, and other high-ranking military and political officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the Joint Special Interventions Command.

Wreaths and flowers were laid in memory of those who died in service on behalf of President Yotova, Prime Minister Rumen Radev, and other state leaders. The anniversary commemorates the year 1944, when the Parachute Company of the First Bulgarian Army participated in actual combat operations for the first time.
