Bulgaria presidential candidates present platforms ahead of elections

As the presidential elections approach, various candidates in Bulgaria have presented their visions and platforms.

Ivaylo Simeonov and Kostyo Stoychev emphasized the need for a new national ideal, financial decentralization, and stronger state institutions to address regional depopulation and lack of long-term strategy.

Kostadin Kostadinov and Petar Volgin of the Vazrazhdane party focused on national sovereignty and economic independence, positioning themselves as advocates for peace over war.

Iliyana Yotova highlighted Bulgaria’s potential as an energy corridor and a hub for artificial intelligence, while also addressing issues of poverty and healthcare access.

Radostin Vasilev proposed establishing direct contact with Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy to address maritime security in the Black Sea. Similarly, Ivan Hristanov raised concerns regarding economic offensives in the Black Sea, noting significant increases in maritime insurance costs and potential impacts on fuel prices and exports.
