Bulgaria presidential election polls predict runoff between Yotova and Gyurov

Recent sociological data from Alpha Research and Trend indicate that Bulgaria’s upcoming presidential election on October 25 is highly likely to result in a runoff between Iliana Yotova and Andrey Gyurov.

According to Alpha Research, the presidential duo of Iliana Yotova and Kiril Välchev leads among those certain to vote with 44.5% support. Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev follow with 26.1%, while Kostadin Kostadinov and Petar Volgin hold 10.5%. The survey suggests an expected voter turnout of approximately 37%, representing between 2.4 and 2.6 million people.

Sociologist Dimitar Ganev of Trend Research warns that voter turnout could potentially drop below the critical threshold of 2 million during a runoff. He notes that voters whose preferred candidates fail to reach the second round often lose motivation. Additionally, Alpha Research reports that approximately 40% of those who do not intend to vote cite disappointment with politicians as their primary reason, while 24% feel no candidate represents them.
