Bulgaria Qualifies for 2027 European Baseball Championship

Bulgaria's men's national baseball team secured a place in its first European Baseball Championship, scheduled for 2027 in Regensburg, Germany. The qualification came after the squad won the Group B qualifying tournament hosted in Blagoevgrad, defeating Slovenia 13‑7 in the final despite an early 0‑3 deficit.

Pitcher Evgeni Chernozemski, who replaced starter Panayot Zhaltov after the first out, delivered 8⅔ innings of work with seven strikeouts and added five RBIs, including a two‑run home run. The team remained unbeaten throughout the qualifier, beating Serbia (10‑5), Slovenia (6‑3), Finland (10‑8) and Romania (22‑7). Coach Stefan Beshkov led the side, assisted by Dmytro Nasov and Yasen Nedelchev. With this achievement, Bulgaria becomes the 23rd nation to compete in the 73‑year history of the tournament.
