Bulgaria Raises Pensions by 7.8% Starting 7 July 2026

The National Social Security Institute announced that the 7.8 % pension adjustment, applied under the so‑called “Swiss rule”, will take effect on 1 July 2026. All labor pensions granted up to the end of 2025, as well as widowed supplements, will be increased. The minimum pension for insured work and age will rise from €322.37 to €347.51, and the basic old‑age social pension will also be raised from €183.81, causing linked benefits to increase proportionally.

Payments of the updated amounts will be made through post‑office stations from 7 July until 20 July, while beneficiaries who receive funds by bank transfer will see the money in their accounts on 7 July. The Covid‑related extra €30.68 previously added to labour pensions will no longer be included.

Additional social payments scheduled for July include maternity, childbirth and child‑care allowances for children up to two years old and adoption allowances for children up to five years old, which will be paid on 2 July for June. Unemployment benefits for the month will be transferred on 15 July.
