Bulgaria Readies Arena Rename and Sports Venues Ahead of Eurovision 2027

Sports Minister Encho Keriazov said the Sofia‑based Arena 8888 will receive a temporary new name for the period that Bulgaria hosts the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, after a naming conflict was identified. He also highlighted the poor condition of several sports facilities, noting inadequate maintenance, missing contracts with commercial operators and a reduced budget cut of 5% for the sport ministry, while promising reforms and better conditions for athletes.

Former world‑no. 3 tennis player Grigor Dimitrov expressed willingness to serve as a presenter for the Eurovision contest, saying he is excited about the event being held in Bulgaria following DARA’s victory and is open to discussions despite his limited hosting experience.
