Bulgaria EU funding Recovery and Resilience Plan 896 million euros anti‑corruption reforms

The European Commission transferred €896 million to Bulgaria as the fourth disbursement under the EU Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP). The payment, approved on 18 June 2026, brings the total amount released to 68 % of the €6.17 billion allocated to Bulgaria. Bulgaria had requested €1.1 billion for this tranche on 2 April 2026, covering 26 milestones across 10 reforms and 12 investments.

The funds are linked to progress on key reforms: creation of an independent anti‑corruption commission, new lobbying rules, installation of about 1,400 household solar/thermal systems, and development of sustainable transport infrastructure. Three milestones remain unmet – legislation on public transport, water‑and‑sewage sector reforms, and support for the cultural sector – which must be completed by the end of August 2026, with a final payment request due by September 2026.

In the same round, the EU also transferred more than €1.86 billion to Belgium, Denmark and Slovenia.
