Bulgaria receives first 150,000 seasonal flu vaccine doses

Bulgaria has received the first 150,000 doses of seasonal influenza vaccines intended for children and seniors under national prevention programs. The current shipment includes 50,000 doses of Efluelda for individuals aged 75 and older, 84,000 doses of Vaxigrip for those aged 65 and older, and 16,000 doses of Vaxigrip for children.

An additional 300,000 doses of Vaxigrip are expected to arrive at distributor warehouses between November 9 and November 13, bringing the total contracted amount for injectable vaccines to approximately 450,000 doses. Distribution to general practitioners is expected to begin next week.

Despite these arrivals, some citizens have reported difficulties in securing vaccines. Some parents and elderly individuals have sought nasal vaccines or other preparations from neighboring countries like Greece, Romania, or Serbia due to local shortages or uncertainty regarding availability through national programs.
