Bulgaria targets 800,000 Polish tourists by 2029

Bulgaria has set a strategic goal to welcome at least 800,000 Polish tourists by 2029. This target was announced by Deputy Minister of Tourism Mariela Modeva during the Bulgarian-Polish Tourism Forum held in Sunny Beach.

In 2025, Bulgaria saw a record of over 460,000 Polish visitors, with July alone accounting for 109,000 arrivals, 89,000 of which were specifically for tourism and leisure. To reach the 2029 goal, officials aim to increase air connectivity by expanding direct flight lines and frequency between the two nations.

Industry experts noted a shift in consumer behavior, with Polish tourists increasingly opting for four- and five-star hotels over lower-rated accommodations. The Polish Chamber of Tourism highlighted that Bulgaria remains a preferred destination for family vacations, maintaining a strong fifth-place market share in Poland. Beyond summer seaside tourism, Bulgarian officials are working to promote the country's cultural, medical, wellness, gastronomic, and wine tourism sectors to encourage year-round travel.
