Bulgaria secured its first Eurovision Song Contest victory in the 70th edition held in Vienna, with singer DARA (Darina Yotova) earning 516 points and winning both the televote and jury vote. As the 2026 winner, Bulgaria will host the 71st Eurovision Song Contest in 2027.

The Bulgarian Council of Ministers and national broadcaster BNT have created an Organising Committee to oversee preparations. Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov, the committee includes senior ministers responsible for finance, European funds, foreign affairs, internal affairs, health, culture, youth and sports, tourism, and the Director General of BNT. An action plan is to be drafted by June 30 and submitted for cabinet approval. Four cities—Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna—have expressed interest in hosting the event.

The contest, inaugurated in 1956, remains the world's largest televised music competition, drawing millions of viewers across Europe and beyond.
