Bulgaria to provide 50 euro fuel compensation to 550,000 citizens

The Bulgarian government has approved a new measure to provide a one-time 50 euro payment to over 550,000 low-income individuals and vulnerable groups to compensate for rising fuel costs.

Eligible recipients include families and individuals living below the poverty line who receive social assistance, households receiving heating subsidies for the current winter season, and families with children with permanent disabilities. Other beneficiaries include orphans receiving family assistance, children in foster care or living with relatives, young people up to 21 without parental care leaving residential social services, and military invalids or victims receiving social support. The Social Assistance Directorates will distribute the funds automatically via bank transfer or mail, requiring no application from the recipients.

Additionally, the Council of Ministers has allocated 1.8 million euros to the Ministry of Health to support emergency medical services. This funding is intended to cover increased fuel expenses for ambulances and specialized medical transport, ensuring the continued movement of patients, donors, organs for transplantation, blood products, and medical equipment.
