Bulgarian Agriculture Minister discusses pilot cooperatives
Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Plamen Abrovski met with Sonya Miklay, General Manager of the German-Bulgarian Industrial and Trade Chamber, to discuss the development of agricultural cooperatives. The meeting focused on creating pilot cooperatives to demonstrate the practical benefits of uniting agricultural producers.
Minister Abrovski emphasized that cooperation should serve as a tool to achieve better economic results, reduce risks, and increase competitiveness rather than being an end in itself. The discussions highlighted the need for better organization in production, supply, and product realization to address key challenges in Bulgarian agriculture.
Sonya Miklay noted that cooperation allows farmers to pool resources and share costs for modern technologies. Both parties agreed that exchanging knowledge and best practices between Bulgaria and Germany could foster new partnerships and contribute to a more sustainable and competitive agricultural sector.
