Bulgarian athletes achieve success in football and tennis

In Bulgarian football, the Bulgarian Cup tournament progressed through 16 matches involving teams from the Efbet League, Second League, and amateur divisions. Most top-tier teams advanced, with 13 Efbet League clubs moving to the next phase. Notably, Lokomotiv Gorna Oryahovitsa secured a victory against higher-level opponent Septemvri in extra time.

In tennis, Bulgarian player Yanaki Milev reached the second round of singles and the doubles quarterfinals at the Challenger 50 tournament in Florence, Italy. After successfully navigating the qualifiers, the 22-year-old defeated the second seed, Lorenzo Giustino, with a score of 6:1, 6:7(3), 6:3. Milev, who is currently ranked 535th in the ATP, will next face Filippo Romano. In the doubles category, Milev and compatriot Radoslav Shandarov advanced to the quarterfinals following a walkover.
