Bulgarian authorities detain individuals for drug trafficking and impaired driving

Authorities in Bulgaria have conducted several operations targeting drug-related offenses. In Sofia, the Sofia City Court ordered the detention of a 36-year-old woman, identified by the initials I. D., accused of possessing high-risk narcotics for distribution. During an investigation on August 19, police discovered approximately 33.82 grams of fentanyl and 6.32 grams of methamphetamine distributed across 20 different locations.

In the Lovech region, police detained a 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman for driving under the influence of drugs. The man was stopped in Yablanitsa, where a passenger was also found with 1.5 grams of a narcotic substance. The woman was detained in Gradezhnitsa after driving under the influence of amphetamine and methamphetamine. Local authorities reported an increase in drug-impaired driving cases in the Lovech region, with 123 incidents recorded in the first half of the year compared to 109 during the same period in 2025.
