Bulgarian citizens file 1,760 medical violation reports via eZdrave app

Bulgarian citizens have submitted 1,760 reports of medical violations through the eZdrave mobile application in just one month. The Ministry of Innovation and the Digital Transformation reported that the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has already initiated 560 inspections based on these signals, which are currently being processed.

The majority of reports concern medical examinations, referral results, and hospitalizations, with the highest volume of signals originating from healthcare facilities in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv, and Burgas. The “Public Control” module, launched on August 1, 2026, allows users to report unregulated activities in real time. Once a signal is submitted, it is automatically distributed to relevant regulatory bodies, including the Regional Health Inspectorate, the NHIF, or the Executive Agency “Medical Supervision.”

The eZdrave app currently has 450,000 active users and adds approximately 1,100 new users daily. Future updates planned for October 2026 include a dental module and a “Financial Profile” module, which will provide users with detailed information regarding the costs incurred by the NHIF for their medical treatments.
